Cleaning Day

Monday is cleaning day... and usually I don't get on the computer and mess around. But I have a confession to make, and I think this is a good spot to do it.

You see, I like to keep our house tidy and clean. Most people know that about me. But there's one thing I don't like doing, and that is... cleaning the showers. So, and here's the confession, I just don't clean them. Yes, this is despicable. And I am admitting it to the great wide out there world. But I must say, there is something you don't do either when you clean! And if there isn't than you are extraordinarily OCD and you have your own problems.

So, about every two months or so I start to feel guilty that all I've done is look at the showers and think: "They look fine to me." (I mean, come on, every day they get water and soap ran all over them.... how bad could be??? Okay, don't answer that... I don't really want to know.) Today, I felt a little guilty and I thought, "Maybe I'll clean them."

But I didn't.

And this is why: Because when I clean them, they look exactly the same!!! This is despite my wet pants. This is despite me coughing up a lung of cleaning supplies. This is despite my two children falling down the stairs because I've been incapacitated in the cleaning pit of all pits.

So, if any of you can tell me a two step (or no step, preferably) method of cleaning my showers, I will. Until then, I'll just use lots of shampoo.

1 step... a squeegee, for the super easy weekly clean wipe down the shower using a washcloth that is already in the bathroom (post shower or EVEN during) and yes i think you could use shampoo or body wash...isnt it meant for cleaning anyways... then simply squeegee the shower walls, doors, etc. It kind of depends on what kind of shower you have but for most this works well. p.s. i only clean my cast iron tub about once a month I hate it!!

I clean my showers far less than I should, but when I finally do get around to it, I do it WHILE showering. I mean, I get all wet and yucky anyway, so I just grab all the cleaning supplies and get in there.

I'm with you, it's pointless. When we moved into our new place they recommened a daily shower spay. We are currently using Tilex Daily Shower Spray, all you do is spray it all over the wet shower before you get out. Minimal effort, 1 step :)

I have no contribution to make in regards to cleaning the shower since my current arrangement is that my roommate always cleans the bathroom (how did I luck out on that one?) and I do either the living room or kitchen.

The real purpose in this comment is just to say, I like your new background.

Oh, and I'll agree with the Tilex Daily Shower Spray, I have it, but don't use it. So, I don't know if it actually cleans, but when I do use it I feel like I cleaned.

I feel the exact same way! I clean the dang thing and it looks the same.

I use a spray which keeps it clean, I guess =)

And since I don't like my family Inhaling chemicals I started using the brand called METHOD.

I've got a good one... a mop. Like the sponge kid of mop. Spray cleaner on the walls and mop away... rinse in the water and wipe the walls down with clean water. Bonus is you're further from the nasty fumes and you don't get nearly as wet. I'm with you though... I hate cleaning showers. I get around to it when I can tell it really needs it (we have an unventinaled bathroom, so things start to grow after a while...)

If you're feeling rich - which, if youre like me, you're probably not - you can buy that shower thing a majig that once you get out, you push the button and it cleans it for you. They are 15$ at Wal-Mart. Not sure how long they last, it's still on my wish list. My sister with 5 teenage kids swears by it though.

I'm with you, I rarely clean the whole shower enclosure. We mostly bathe though.

I personally am a fan of the Magic Eraser for everything. No fumes! I keep one in the bathroom for quickie cleanups. Works great for getting the ring out of the tub too.

If I'm ever rich, I'll just hire someone to clean my shower for me.

Actually, the thing I really avoid is mopping the floor. I don't know why I hate it so much. Mark does it every time. EVERY TIME. I have mopped the floors maybe one time in the 2.5 years we've been married.

1. Pay someone $10-$15/hour to come clean your showers.

2. Take a cleaning rag into the shower with you and clean the tub with a bit of shampoo.
