Spencer had his birthday last week. He is definitely the fourth child instead of the first :) so it was pretty low-key. I watched a video of Ellie's first birthday - which all our family came to - and thought how nice everyone was to come watch a one year old open presents and eat cake. I know now they really did it for me, because I'm pretty sure Ellie was clueless. Spencer did enjoy his candle though. (That grin is for the fire, not the treat. He actually tore the cinnamon roll to pieces and dropped it on the floor.) He was very upset when we blew the candle out :( We had planned Spencer's party for Friday because Wednesday was supposed to be quite busy, but then we had a huge snowstorm and school got cancelled and Church meetings got cancelled and everyone stayed home. Luckily, he had one present from his Grandma and Grandpa Wood, and a cinnamon roll - otherwise it would have been pretty lame birthday.
Driving his new car from Grandma and Grandpa. I put that puppy together!!! Aren't I amazing???? (And I fixed the vacuum the next morning. I am so mechanical it awes the mind.) Of course, I didn't finish the back up - it's supposed to be a fire engine - but we are figuring we will just wait for that until summer (it's really shoots water) or it will just be broken in the meantime. Spencer can't make the car go, but the kids love to push him around the house when they aren't fighting for turns themselves. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!
Spencer is at my favorite age. He has started to walk now, and he can play by himself for quite a long time. He sleeps through the night, still takes two naps, doesn't tell me I'm mean, and gives me cuddles. He giggles as soon as you get down and play with him. He has two teeth on the bottom, and one crazy tooth on top that has appeared way above his gum line. He loves his siblings, and lights up when they come to play with him. He is also now sleeping in the same room as them. He likes to throw his binky and make them go get it. He also sometimes pulls Grant's hair through the crib. I did finally trim the hair above his eyes so he could see. He says "MaMa" all the time which basically means "I want that" or "Come pick me up" or "I want that" or "Come pick me up." We love him lots!
