"Earth's crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God, But only he who sees takes off his shoes, The rest sit 'round it and pluck blackberries."

Vulnerability

I read a quote once that said something meaningful like: "Having a child is like deciding to let your heart walk around outside your body."

I've discovered it must come to about the same thing to decide to have a blankie.

For instance, when you have a blankie your older sister can grab said article and run up the stairs yelling:

"You have to come play with me, I'm taking your blankie."

Or, without any words at all, she can just pick up the blankie and hold it over her head as ransom.

Or, if you take one of her ponies she can grab your blankie and run away screaming.

It's a dangerous business, this blankie deal.

Luckily, M has found a solution. Apparently loud-pitched screaming on her part (which usually gets E in trouble - oldest child syndrome, a discussion for another day) results in comments like this:

"Shhhh, I'm giving it back.... I'm giving it back... I'm giving it back... please, stop screaming."

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

Yup. I know this game well. Very well. Sometimes I do it with Jeramy's iPhone to get him to do things around the house. ;)

Another fun day. Nice to spend time with you and hold the baby.

Yes, Andy already knows that taking COdy's blanket makes Cody cry...Andy the whole time Andy is smiling.

Love it. We've got some "out of blankie experiences" here at our house going on too.

I just looked at your blog from my friend Sarah S.'s. I hope you don't mind. But this is such a cute post! I think it's hilarious about comparing having a blankie to having a baby.
