I am having January doldrums.
I am sorry, but I hate January.
Nothing happens in January. Except M's birthday... and we all forgot that anyway.
Meanwhile, I feel like I am waiting at an undisclosed train station, waiting for an undisclosed train, that will arrive at an undisclosed time with all this PhD stuff.

And let's not forget that this train will take me to the next five years of my life.
That makes January even more irritating.
Sadly, my children have to deal with me in this beautiful state.
Today I made an apple pie. That was yummy.
E thought it was yummy too.
"Mom, this apple pie is soooo yummy. I love it."
About five minutes later...
"But Mom, I don't really like the apples."
She ate the crust and the whipped cream. Left all the apples in her bowl.
So did M.
More apple pie for me!
I'll think about that instead of January.

That is the BEST way to enjoy apple pie!!
Sorry about the doldrums, read The Phantom Tollbooth for a good escape!
(Actually read The Willoughbys - my favorite (this week!))
does ANYONE like january. i woke up in a good mood this morning cuz there is only one more week left in january~:O)
Oh how I dislike January, too. I understand about the train station. I'm waiting there too...and have been for the last two years. It's nice to have the company, though we'll most likely be getting on different trains.
I agree: January should be banned from the calendar. So should February. Especially February, which, sigh, hasn't even started.
Ditto. Except, I am not waiting for a train to take me somewhere, I am waiting for the train to bring Adam home!
We've beenlucky in Spokane because January has felt like March....great weather.....
Oh fun, the waiting game. I understand, it's pretty tough. I hated it, probably more than Brad. Course when we applied to med school I didn't have kids and that made it easier I think. I can't imagine it with kids, that added stress to think about. I feel for ya!!!
If you come to Pitts (an hour away)we'll have "January blues" play dates. Man, I'm desperate for friends here, I don't care if I have to drive an hour away!
I have a cure for the January doldrums. Come hang out with me for a night. Or I'll come hang out with you. Whatever you prefer. I need some quality Jamie time. I miss it.
MMMMMM I wish I could have had some of Jamie's yummy apple pie!
GRANDMA PAULA AND GRANDPA MARK DID NOT FORGET MEG'S BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Meg got her PRESENTS "on time" but her birthday card, I have to admit DID come late!)

Grandma Paula
