Activity Hour

Anyone who's spent more than five minutes with E knows that she takes quite a long time to do some basic daily jobs. One of these basic tasks that takes an hour for E to accomplish is going to the bathroom. Justin and I often sit on the couch as we wait for her and wonder: What is going on in there? Well, we've had some clarity on that lately. I thought I might share with you in case you're looking for an activity in the bathroom.

Activity #1: Wash the mirrors with handsoap and hand towells. Be sure to leave long streaks across the mirror and bubbles all around the faucet.

Activity #2: (To be done when Activity #1 is discovered and crossed off the list). Fill up the sink with water and wash the top of the toilet seat. Be sure to shlop water around the floor for good measure.

Activity #3: (To be done when Activity #2 is discovered and also crossed off the list). Put an entire roll of toilet paper in the toilet. Flush. Repeatedly. Be sure to make the toilet overflow. This is optimally accomplished while Daddy is in the shower, M is trying to eat breakfast, and G.Q. is crying for breakfast too.

Activity #4: (To be done when all other activities have been crossed off the list). Climb up on the counter and do a dance in front of the mirror. It is best to do this quietly since bathroom activities are under Stalin-like surveillance as of late. Of course, when you're still taking an hour in the bathroom... someone is bound to get suspicious and discover you again.

At this point it is always wise to try statements like: "I didn't know I wasn't supposed to do that." Which is technically true since the list of statements made before bathroom hour (quite long now) DID NOT actually include standing on the counter and singing.
