"Earth's crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God, But only he who sees takes off his shoes, The rest sit 'round it and pluck blackberries."

Mice

Today, while reading M the book: "Lilly's Big Day" by Kevin Henkes, we ran across this picture:

Says M: "Look Mom, that's E (on the right) and me (on the left).

An interesting visual of M's current understanding of the relationship between her and her sister, I think. Not that she doesn't dish it to GQ, you know. And not that he doesn't throw a train at her for good measure when she goes a little too far.

There's nothing like a sibling to keep you in line.

In other news:

Along with the box elder bugs who came looking for a home at our place when they cut the corn down, we have recently acquired some mice.

I am so not happy.

And I would just like to say that, unlike Cinderella - who made her mice clothes and let them sew a dress for her, I will be doing anything and everything to get rid of our guests.

I will even get a cat if I have to...

Or steal the neighbor's if that would be easier.

Because I do not appreciate the happy mouse dance. Not one bit.

I'm sorry about the mice! I've been worried about getting them here. No sign of them yet. We have two cats but they play with mice before killing them which is horrifying. We had mice issues in our house in CT. I hate mice.

Mice? Oh that's awful, so sorry. As for the box elder bugs, we have a ton here too and I HATE them!

Ask someone with a cat for some of their fur. Then sprinkle the hair around. Sometimes if mice smell the cat hair they leave. I've heard it works but don't know from experience.

Sounds like Jamie Wood and Virginia Wood have something in common...other than how neat and orderly and kind and ....

Well, I remember when I surprised my mother with a new pet that one of my friends from school gave me when I was in third grade--a white mouse (in a cage, of course)! My mom wasn't too happy, but she let me keep it. The difficult thing was that about a week later there were FOUR babies in the cage!!!! That was OK too, because they were soooo cute, but then...they got out....

Love,
Grandma Paula

PS. I DON"T LIKE MICE EITHER AT THIS AGE!!!!
