"Earth's crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God, But only he who sees takes off his shoes, The rest sit 'round it and pluck blackberries."

Where in the World is????

M? Okay, I know where she is. She's just upstairs sleeping. And sleeping. And sleeping. And sleeping. This means I can't go run my errands. Which means you get to listen to my musings. Aren't you excited?

Other than two years of my life spent in Vegas, most of my time has been spent living within about a sixty mile span of I-15.

Along this pathway is the lake below:

For those of you who haven't memorized a zillion topographical maps (is this even a topographical map?) this lake is known to most people as "Utah Lake."

Very creative name.

But wait, I haven't got to the sad part. You see, whenever I drive from my house to I-15 I have a lovely view of the lake mentioned above. And EVERY time I see it, I am surprised it's there. Literally.

As in: "Huh, there's a lake there? I never knew that."

How is this possible??????

It's not like it's easy to completely cut a lake out of the map in a person's head. It's not like the lake hasn't been there for much longer than I have. It's not like it doesn't look like a lake. But I just can't seem to get it through my head that it exists. Ever.

Maybe it's because I've never been there.

Or maybe not.

I'm not sure.

For the past few months I've tried to "learn" that this lake exists. I look at it and think, "Look, a lake." But then, the next time I see it, I'm surprised once again to find it exists.

I'm pretty aware of the duck pond on BYU campus. I even believe in the Great Salt Lake.

But Utah Lake?

I'm not so sure.

Maybe it's just a hologram.

Speaking of which I've almost convinced Justin to go see Star Trek with me. Shouldn't that be the other way around?

Go see it! It's sooooo good. Even if you've never been into anything star trekish in your life, you'll still be totally entertained. So good.

I'll go see Star Trek with you! My friends went without me, and while a number of people have offered to go again, it's just not the same. Then Justin can babysit the kiddos!

If we were living in the same town I'd love to see Star Trek! I grew up watching it with my dad!
